David Hawthorne honored with the 2022 Lewis Quality of Excellence Award
Congratulations to Dave Hawthorne, director of the Financial Markets Institute, who received the 2022 Lewis Quality of Excellence Award from the Eli Broad College of Business. Dave received this award for his innovative and collaborative leadership for the 2022 Spartan Banker Day program in conjunction with the MSU Treasury Department.
Jeff Rayis, director of MSU Treasury and Financial Management stated, “Dave’s idea to host a global group of senior investment bankers for a university business update and student networking/recruitment event was extremely successful. Over 50 senior investment bankers attended the event, and many said the day was a breakthrough model of communication and collaboration with higher education and students.”
The Spartan Banker Day was held at the Minskoff Pavilion, which significantly improved banker impressions of both the Broad College and the university. Jeff Grosenbaugh, senior vice president at Citizens Bank, gave us this feedback: “What an awesome event. So well planned and attended. Super schedule and speakers. I am so impressed with MSU and learned so much more about the school and campus.”
The guest speakers, including Hawthorne, included efforts toward transformational and innovative developments in teaching diversity, equity and inclusion along with health care, student engagement, investment, finance and career planning. Topics also covered the excellent program standings, rankings and career placement results of the Broad College.
Special thanks and congratulations to Dave Hawthorne for making this idea a reality and earning the 2022 Lewis Quality of Excellence Award from the Broad College.
